I’m really enjoying watercolor and flowy tops with ruffles right now. Spring clothes are just so cute!

A little wish list

December 3rd, 2008 § Leave a Comment

Okay, gift guides are coming…it’s just been a little crazy lately. I thought I would at least post this little wish list of my own first, and then go from there. So, begin!!!

1. Remember those fashion plates that you had when you were little that you scraped a colored pencil against to come up with little fashionista illustrations? Well, I was rather obsessed with those things, and I really enjoy this t-shirt that pays homage to a fun pasttime. :)

2. These adorable plaid barettes!!!

3. This pretty lemon quartz necklace…found on Etsy but really reminds me of John Hardy or David Yurman!

4. These pillows because the corn on the cobb apartments are my favorite buildings in Chicago!!!! I so want to live in them if I end up here next year…

5. These shoes from QVC :)

6. This robe from Target. I just bought the blanket version for my bed last week, and I am in love. I seriously have never felt anything so soft, and Todd assures me that it stays that way after you wash it. Yippee!

Built By Wendy

I haven’t known about Built By Wendy for too long, but gosh I’m really loving her Fall 08 Collection! I love how everything looks so effortless and free…I love everything about this first photo–the dress, the print, the black tights, the big bag, and man-oh-man those shoes.

I really love how the black jacket floats away from her body here…so cute without even trying to be.

This shirt reminds me of Tabitha…which incidentally may top the list for my eventual spawn :)

I love love love this look. I could wear it every day to work.

I even think my brother would like this sweater!, and it’s hard to find him clothes that he’d wear besides the Gap. I just love the collar!

Fashion Week

September 9th, 2008 § Leave a Comment

A bit late onto the scene here, but I’ve just discovered Style.com, which of course I’d heard of before, but I dunno, I thought it was similar to About.com, which I find pretty useless. But yeah, I was so pleased to see that they do recaps of all the shows at Fashion Week, complete with pictures of all of the collections! Hooray! This makes my stalking much more easily accomplished :) Here were some shows I liked:

Diane von Furstenberg
Beautiful prints as always, still undecided about those flowering ribbons, beads and feathers…

Tuleh
Interesting prints from a designer I’ve never heard of, and refreshingly feminine silhouettes…I’m pretty much in love with that dress.

Lela Rose
Probably my favorite–I loved the color palette of yellows, blues, and grays, with splashes of orange and red. I like #2 the best.

I can also say that I honestly hated The Gap. Besides a pair of pink tight cropped pants, I thought the whole thing looked lazy. And don’t even get me started on those platform sandals–I was happy to leave my platform-wearing soles back in 7th grade, right where they belong. Ay ay ay.

Gap, Banana

August 22nd, 2008 § 2 Comments

Not really sure what Gap is up to this season…looks like they’re trying to be Indie European, with weird matchups between very girly, flowy tops and dresses, with puffy woodsman jackets–NOT a fan. I’m all for mixing up the structured and unstructured, and different materials and whatnot, but come on, it’s just not flattering. I did kind of like this:

But literally…that’s it. I was a bit more successful at Banana Republic. Really I am a huge sucker for sweater dresses (I saw this vintage St. John sweater dress on Etsy and about died…am still considering it), so we get right along. I’m not sure I really see the quality difference between regular Banana and BR Monogram–seems like the regular stuff only higher priced. I think I’ll probably stay downstairs, especially with Alex’s 30% discount!

Look at those sleeves!

OLD NAVY

August 22nd, 2008 § Leave a Comment

I was reading Elements of Style the other day and was blown away by some of the Old Navy pieces she was featuring. I thought I’d go over there and browse a little bit, and man, they have really mixed things up. I am so pleased that they’ve decided to compete with stores like H&M and Target, instead of wallowing in the performance fleece-only rut. I’m definitely going to have to go over there sometime soon, especially if I can fit into their pants! It’s official, that I am too small/too tall to fit into Gap pants anymore. I know, I know, cry about it, I’m small, but you know it is kind of a problem that I only have one store (Banana Republic) that actually carries pants my size for less than $100 apiece. Still, I’m a student, and I need a cheaper option for every day!

Help, I can’t decide which color to get of this dress–it is $10!

Shirts and Dresses

Really cute Liz Claiborne tunic:

And this lovely Catherine Malandrino dress is just to die for. I love the print!!

This is quite a simple dress, but it looks so fresh and clean, by Tory Burch at Neiman Marcus:

This tunic sweater looks so comfy!!! I’m seriously thinking about buying this one for myself:

Here’s a fun one from Single Dress. It just looks so fresh and airy. I could totally see myself wearing this along the beach or something. I like the border print at an angle at the bottom hem.

A jumper from Gibson. I like the body, not so much the print.

I really like this top. It’s simple and casual, but very figure flattering, from Parfait.

This sweater dress from Laundry by Shelli Segal is just great. I can see wearing this a million ways. I’m going to think hard about this one. How does one replicate this style, anyway?

Perhaps St. John will have a comeback…they were looking so stuffy for a while there…still very corporate-looking.
