courier microsoft tablet

So apparently Microsoft is also making a tablet??? If this is true, I am extremely excited! I know it won’t be a direct competitor for the Kindle, but I do see all of these tablet/e-readers melding into one device in the end, with the ability to turn backlighting on and off for reading and more computer-like applications. Any news on the Apple tablet? I haven’t read anything about it recently…

Neat or weird?

What do you think of these gadgety gizmos? The bike thing actually looks kinda cool, but I wonder how heavy it is!! I know my current bike would be horrendous to carry on my back. The surge protectors, I dunno, I think it’s just kinda weird. Can’t we just have a nice simple one that isn’t that ugly beige gray plastic? Although having outlets not all in a row could be useful, especially if you’re working in a room that only has an outlet on, say, one wall, and you have to have all your stuff go into one power strip without extension cords…

art in the marketplace

smashing magazine did an article about the most innovative product designs recently, and then i’d come across several others recently that i wanted to share, so here it is, the most amazingly cool product designs of right this second!!!!!!!!

the DDM PC: yes, literally take apart pieces of the monitor and bring them with you as portable dvd players, PDAs, etc.

the resealable can: sure beats my old method of stuffing a cottonball in the mouthpiece. yeah, didn’t quite work…

the wack mortorcyle by yamaha: yes, you too can be a superhero in your everyday life. imagine pulling up into the office parking lot in one of these babies!??

nokia bendable cell phone: molds to your ear, and can even be worn as a bracelet, or latch onto your backpack when not in use! ummmm awesome, much?

kwikset keyless fingerprint scan door lock: never have to carry keys again, and more importantly, never get locked out again! hooray!

patterned concrete: oh yes, you never thought it could look this good. ta-da!

swatch bracelet watch: so cute! you can barely tell it’s a watch from far away :) i actually haven’t decided if i really like it or not, but it is quite innovative.

sony rolly mp3 player: reminds me of that little yellow dancing robot that colleen loves so much. waddles around and “dances” to the beat of your music–how precious!

3M: cool brand extension

probably something i should have been paying attention to more before, but now that i’m taking all these strategy classes, i notice a lot more when companies are doing smart things with their capabilities. i thought this was a cool one: 3M uses its knowledge in adhesives to break into other categories besides just post-its and stickies. this product, the fur fighter hair remover, can be used on furniture and clothes to get rid of pet hair. uh, if i had a dog, i would definitely need this!
