With the threat of spring in the air, I find myself looking online for a few new dresses or frilly skirts. And after all–I just got my tax refund so why not treat myself a bit? (don’t worry, most of it is going into savings…boring). Here are a few that I found.
From Anthropologie, I am in love with this dress. It is perfect for work because of the length and the print and sleeves make it wearable all year long. And I really just can’t say no to that smocked waist.

And these skirts! More smocking and yellow! and cuteness! And I think the dark one would look so cute with a poppy button-up and fancy jewelry.

From Madewell, there is this dress (shown in two different prints) that I am gaga over. Never bought a dress from them before (although I received a sweater for Christmas and it is really nice quality) so I’m not sure, but both of the prints are beautiful and I LOVE the thick black straps!

Which one(s) do you like best? I’m having trouble deciding. I thought I had bought the first dress already, but my computer died right before I could confirm my order I guess, so of course now I’m rethinking…help!
Also, some cute pictures of the puppies. Goliath went up to my mom’s for a week while Drew and I were in the Bahamas, and then Wrigley came down to spend the weekend with us while Mom, Todd, and Michael were at a soccer tournament in Williamsburg. They are the cutest buddies, aren’t they?

Somebody got a little jealous when Wrigley snuggled up to me for a nap (ahem, Goliath–he’s the one on top)

Goliath after a very muddy time at the dog park.

Chillin at Mom’s house.

Drew and Wrigley get close.

That’s all for today. After playing a little Dance Central, I think I’m going to indulge in some chic lit reading and then go pick up Drew from his guy’s night in. Yay weekend!

I think most people tend to buy one kind of item when they go shopping: pants, sweaters, t-shirts, workout gear, work attire, jewelry, bags, shoes…for me it is dresses. Whenever I go shopping I am immediately drawn to pretty, flouncy, usually dressy dresses. I find it perfectly reasonable to spend $300 on a nice dress, but balk at spending the same for a shirt and pants. I think it might be an aspirational thing, and if I’m ever rich and famous, I plan to have a wardrobe full of dresses that I wear daily. For now my normal routine is jeans and a t-shirt or sweater, though when I’m working I get to wear all my dressy clothes, which is nice. And all this to say–here are a couple dresses that I have saved!
From Lirola’s etsy shop
I don’t usually go for drop waists, but I love this Adrianna Pepell dress from Nordstrom
Not exactly a dress, but a flouncy jacket from Tulle
And I love these costumes from The Joffrey Ballet

Searle

Was watching What Not to Wear the other day and realized that I inevitably love whatever the guest buys at Searle, so I decided to venture online and see what they were all about. Actually I thought Searle was a brand but turns out they are just a shop that sells high-endy brands like Cynthia Steffe and Nicole Miller. Sweet! I especially loved these looks…
First–my FAVORITE!!! I LOVE this dress (from Walter), and this cute one from Magaschoni!
Nicole Miller and Cynthia Steffe
Searle (house brand?) and Walter again…so cute and fun!
Anyone ever been to Searle? How was it? I think they are only in NY, but someday I definitely plan on a visit!

Have you heard of Thread Social? I had not until I saw these images on Unruly Things…I am loving stripes right now so I especially like the second and third dresses (ooh but the second one especially…where can I wear this so I have an excuse to buy it???).
Also loving these Lela Rose dresses…

Here are my favorites from Spring 2010 Fashion Week (I just love that just as I’m dreading fall I can at least have spring to look forward to!):
Peter Som and Philosophy (I loved their color palette, the pale orange was beautifully done!)
Oscar de la Renta (I just think that first dress is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen and I love the print of the second)
Oscar de la Renta (I literally stopped dead in my tracks at this dress) and Anna Sui (slightly disappointed with her showing this season because I absolutely loved EVERYTHING from her last collection)
Milly
Michael Kors
3.1 Phillip Lim
Lela Rose and Diane von Furstenberg
Malandrino and Marchesa

I wish this was sleeveless and that the lace was gray heather jersey instead but I love the faux strapless look! (Creatures of Comfort via Frolic!)

Ooooh here’s another pretty one from Creatures of Comfort…would be so pretty with a chunky brown belt.

I liked these two slinky dresses from Belle Boutique as well (via Unruly Things)

And isn’t this bouquet of flowers so pretty??? I normally don’t think of green as the main color of a flower bouquet, but I really like it!
