Home Exteriors

I’ve been accumulating these for the past month while I was writing away on my novel. Lately I’ve gotten really into stone houses and homes in little alcoves of trees and gardens–hope you enjoy them!

Oh my gosh–I want this house. Love the Tudor design, chimney on the front facade, arched doorway, and leaded glass windows. And of course the beautiful gardens! Seriously, I want to live here (actually located in Maryland–being rented out though, dang).

Pretty salvage wood staircase with wrought iron hand rail.

Love this house…that porch looks so serene! And I like the large dark door in the front. Kind of funky window placement on the second level, but I like it.

Love the columns and semi-circle garden and stone path…I am a real sucker for stone pavers…

So pretty! Love the wide outlines on the windows and the wraparound porch.

Looks kind of squat, but I love the roof and the location underneath the old tree. Those hedges would have to GO though.

I like the placement of this one, and the contrast of the bright red doors against the conservative architecture. And that tree!

Possibly the cutest bungalow of all time. Can you tell I love front porches?

My dream backyard. LOVE the broken stone pavers around mulched areas of plants, and the benches and tables throughout. I’m going for a messy formal garden look.

That’s it! LOTS of interiors coming up!

Interiors!

This is a mega post to clear off a lot of the pics I have saved to the desktop. Right now they’re threatening to go off the page if I add any more! I’ve already had to dock my post it notes halfway off the screen… Anyway, I’ve come across a LOT of pretty interiors over the past…uh, several weeks…so now I’ll finally share them with you!

I love this shade of yellow, the built-in console, and the picture layout!

Ranch

During my summer in Michigan I really fell in love with the ranch. I’ve never really liked it before because I just assumed it had to look pretty dowdy. But there were quite a few attractive and modern ranches on my way to work that really changed my mind. And the other week I came across this renovated ranch and completely fell head over heels. I love white and one of my all-time favorite architectural details is wood beams on a vaulted ceiling.

And what do you think of this colorful one? I mean, I do love yellow, but this might be a bit too much, even for me! I do love the little terrace on top of the roof though. So relaxing!

Reading Nook

In my current apartment my favorite place to read is my bed, and with my Kindle that is a lot more comfortable than before, since I only need one hand to flick next page. But someday I imagine a more dedicated space, preferably outside or very near the light that is quiet and bright and a little haven from the rest of the craziness. I imagine the first spring days where you might need a blanket still outside, or those rainy days where there’s nothing good to do except curl up with a good book. Today I’m going to read a bit more of Brisingr, since things have been too blurry to read over the last couple of days. But yay, I really hope Paolini brings it back in this one!

So Much Sitting on My Desktop

I apologize for the delay in updating this week… Unlike every other blogger, I seem to take the weeks off and pile all of my posts into the weekend haha!! I thought about updating a lot yesterday, since Whirlpool was off work and I was lazing around the house reading, but alas, I got much too caught up in Pride and Prejudice :) Anyway, back to the post at hand–LOTS of interiors I’ve come across recently. This first one I just love: (1) the gray, black, and yellow color scheme, (2) the louis XIV armchair, (3) those cute stainless steel vases I’m seeing everywhere these days…

Haha, this style was called “mod victorian” on the site…what do you think? I like the desk a lot, and the screen…prob would never have those walls though. But I kind of like the idea of defining a room with a big circular rug like that. :)

A pretty, pretty bedroom. I could definitely live here. I love all the white (lately I’ve become obsessed with white beds!! And you really don’t need to worry that much about them getting dirty because you can always bleach them!!). But it just looks so light and crisp. I really like that color blue, and the painted stripes along the wall and ceiling are really fun… And I’m pretty much in love with shag carpets, and (velvet?) chaises. I even like that red chandelier!!! And of course who could say no to a bedroom with double doors leading out into the garden–yes please :)

I liked this room…it looked very cozy. I especially like that striped body pillow, the brown chair, and those yellow accents in the back! I’d like to see an end table that was white and yellow instead of black…and I like the vase!

I pretty much only saved this for the mosaic table…which I actually COULD see having in my own home. But those bookshelves aren’t bad either. I really need a new shelf!! My books are taking over the apartment!!!!

Cute living room. I like all the light and the curtains (prob should get some curtains for our living area…will look into that when we go to IKEA), and the white, orange, and green color scheme is really nice and relaxing.

And finally…this home is in the shape of a half circle, which I find kind of amazing. The architecture of this house is really amazing, and I love those wood and white divider wall things, and the detail on the ceiling. And that fireplace!
