Fall

Now that I’m getting over my cold, I’ve decided to embrace the season which is usually my least favorite of seasons. There is something special about warm apple cider, homemade pasta, and snuggling up to read good books (I’m currently reading Jane Eyre), which invigorates me. Here are a few things I’ve found inspiring lately.

1. Daydreaming of walks, hand-in-hand, through expansive old farms at sunset.

2. These cute DIY winter votives (they remind me of a more grown-up room 10!)

3. Christmas shopping for those I love (possible to buy all handmade this year? I’d like to try.)

4. Warm, simple, feminine frocks.

5. Pretty bedrooms with bright orange, lime, olive, and white hues.

6. Writing notes to friends on cute stationary (wouldn’t this forest scene also look great on a mantle?)

7. Blue roses (newly developed by scientists)–how gorgeous!

Interiors!

This is a mega post to clear off a lot of the pics I have saved to the desktop. Right now they’re threatening to go off the page if I add any more! I’ve already had to dock my post it notes halfway off the screen… Anyway, I’ve come across a LOT of pretty interiors over the past…uh, several weeks…so now I’ll finally share them with you!

I love this shade of yellow, the built-in console, and the picture layout!

I like this idea of an island kitchen table…and I like the oval shape.

Similarly, really like this island desk setup with the consoles flanking both sides.

Yellow and White

So of course yellow is my favorite color–and also crisp, clean, white–so it shouldn’t be a surprise that I love this paintable wallpaper so you can really paint an accent wall without leaving the other walls looking incredibly neglected ;) And, you know, I just love those lamps (from Pottery Barn!).

Moop

Trying to decide if I want to buy this market bag or not. Overall I love the look…more casual stylish than like you spent a lot of cash and time to look amazing. I wanted to buy it to replace my backpack, which is getting tired though I still love it. But wanted something a little less collegiate. The only thing I’m worried about it that if I put my laptop in there the pleats will be all messed up and it’ll look boxy on the bottom, and that it might be very heavy on my shoulders. One great thing about a backpack is good shoulder and back support, and it’s something I don’t want to give up lackadaisically. Hmmm, it is really cute–I can’t decide!

More Lamps

Found a great new lamp resource, Lamps Plus. A whole range of prices, but more just inspiration for me at this point. If I don’t find anything suitable at IKEA this weekend, then maybe I’ll look into it for real…

Also, after I posted this room, I’ve been after chandeliers that I would actually like to have in my room. A mini chandelier in the bedroom as a reading light has really grown on me. To imitate the look in the original room, I like this first blue one, full of lots of crystals and whatnot. But all the others I like are very sleek and modern. What say you?

Metallics

Some fun things in metal today…first this vintage metal fruit basket–I am definitely going to get one of these on etsy to hold all my mail on our front hall table. So cute and non-mass-looking, and you can find them for like $7!! Also this table–I’m just generally loving metal and glass together, and dark and light woods, and wood and metal, and wood and glass…uhhh, maybe I just like mixed materials :) And third I thought this Seiko watch was a pretty cool blend of traditional analog and digital. If they made it a lot smaller and in a cute light pink or white, I’d be all over it. And finally, this cute vintage white alarm clock, found via Apartment Therapy Chicago. Oh, I think I need to live in the 60s!
