Ho Hum

Sitting in the reading room thinking about doing the reading for my first class (we start today). Am pretty lonely today. After being with Drew most every moment for a week, and then with Mel and Katie for a few days, being back on my own is rather solitary. For the past two nights I’ve been overcome with a slight panicky feeling when I go to bed…which is not so fun :-\ Yesterday I stayed home and researched jobs and generally fooled around online for the entire day, which I think just did not help things. So now I’m at Booth, at least surrounded by some other people, and time to get to work. I did see a guy I went to Barcelona with in the college bookstore when I was getting my books…and we chatted for a few mins and I found out he is entering the Econ PhD program at the business school!!! Woah small world!!! I was like, hey, I just left that program hahaha. But yeah he and his girlfriend are going back to Barcelona in July and I was like gahhhhh I want to go. We’ll see. Christine is trying to convince me to do the last week of the Camino de Santiago with her, so depending on the job situation that could be really fun.

Anyway enough of that. I’ll just share these two adorable etsy finds…

home!

well, back at home in chicago after a lovely week traveling to NC to visit drew and meg, mel, and katie. spent the week in winston doing quite a bit of nothing but spending lots of time with drew and trying to avoid my email. also met his friends and roommates and ate lots of yummy food…and went to shag on the mag to dance!!!! i lovelovelove dancing so that was a nice way to end our time together. it was rully nice to be together for such a long time with nothing that needed to be done (although i find that whirlpool haunts me everywhere…kinda not thrilled about that). nice just to know that he’d be the first and last person i’d see every day. :)

then on saturday met up with meg, mel and katie for brunch at midtown, saw meg’s house with all its new paint colors, and then went back to chapel hill with mel and katie. basically just chilled the entire time i was there watching movies and planet earth besides church and walking the dogs outside (notably i wore a skirt and a short sleeve shirt today…two different outfits but still…now i am wearing pants and a long sleeve shirt and a coat). but a good amount of chat time which was really nice, definitely something i miss. it does make me wish we were closer so it wouldn’t always have to be catchup, but hopefully we’ll actually communicate via the blog a bit more regularly, and the marathon i think will be a good experience to go through together. also hopefully drew and i will move a bit closer to NC than chicago (dc is really growing on me!), soooooo we’ll see. overall a very enjoyable week.

gotta get back down to business tomorrow and see about getting my replacement kindle (drew stepped on mine this week…HMMM) from fedex office somewhere…and then books and such for probably my LAST QUARTER OF CLASSES EVER. so weird. and yet, i kinda feel like i’ll do some sort of continuing education or crazy masters when i’m like 50, so it feels a little empty to say i’ll be done with finals forever, cuz i probably won’t. but still, for a long while anyway. kinda nice. ;) anyway, off to watch some internet tv…i’ll sign off with this cute kitchen plate idea!!! i like the kitchy-ness of the mismatched plates and the modern sputnik chandelier over the table.

What do we think of the toned down gladiator look? I’m really enjoying it! So far I have stayed well away from shoe purchases…

Though I may head into Nordstrom Rack soon to see if I can get any good deals on boots, since Chicago prob still has a good month left of winter…

Hello all!I know it’s been a while since I last posted…it’s finals week here so I was a bit hairbrained. Thankfully all my exams are over and I just have a few things to take care of before I head to North Carolina for spring break!!! Yay I am really excited. Hopefully the weather will be like this and not Chicago cold!

Til Sunday I am working on last minute class stuff, grading, and going to see Jersey Boys tomorrow with Stacey, Colleen and Colleen’s mom. Should be lots of fun!!! OH—and of course watching Wake in the NCAA tournament! Right now I’m doing pretty badly in all of my pools, but hopefully that’ll change soon. Crazy that ETSU almost won today against Pitt! Even though I had Pitt in my final four I was definitely rooting for ETSU to pull off their epic win. Too bad… Alright, back to work so I can watch the game later! Much love.

Bedrooms

Pretty bedrooms from HGTV’s Rate My Space:

1. I really like the bedspread and window seat. I would have painted a dark blue accent wall or a lighter blue on all four walls. It also would have been nice to have a more prominent white bed with head/foot boards.

2. This room is kinda crazy but I like the happiness of it. In general I don’t like to paint ceilings the same color as the walls but here it looks nice because there’s  a ton of light. I really like the use of white, dark green, black, and burgundy accessories with the intense coral and lime on the walls. Kind of reminds me of Anthropologie, and who doesn’t love that?

3. I really like the white mirror/bedside tables against the color walls, and the bedding (incidentally, from Anthropologie). I think I wouldn’t have had so many little stripes on the accent wall, and no white ones.

4. A much more calming bedroom…not really my style but I like the rug.

Oh Well

Heard back from Whirlpool today. The feedback I got was really good but still no offer…I guess my experience precludes me from entering the LDP, and other positions they like me for aren’t being approved for hiring right now. Drew hasn’t heard back yet…probably tomorrow…but it looks like a no at this point. Am really disappointed, but I guess it just wasn’t the right thing. Back to square one we go, and hopefully it’ll work out this time. I was kind of looking forward to the rollercoaster ride being over, but I guess not yet!

It’s Official!

Melanie, Katie, and I are running the Chicago Marathon this October!!!! I am super excited–I really want to be under 4 hours this year, and I think I can do it if I commit to doing the cross training and avoid injuries (aka commit to stretching!!!). So we’ll see. I’ve run really sporadically the past few weeks but as it is now March I think it’s time to start running regularly again (oh how my body enjoyed those months off though haha!!). I’m excited for warmer weather here so I can run outside (it is soooo boring staring at a wall for even 3 miles!). Today is a good day, I think. Lots of busyness this morning getting things ready for the class next quarter, and next I am picking out my LAST quarter of classes! Wow! It has just flown by and really I have loved getting my MBA, but I’m excited for the next chapter too :) After picking classes it’s time to run and do some laundry, get ready, do some general cleaning around here, and prepare for my meeting later. Hope everyone is doing well!
