I like this print, by Cindy Thornton:

Whew! I am exhausted! It’s been a really great day though
I got up around 10, went for a run (oh yes first time since October!!!! I only ran 2 miles but I felt good! Would probably have done more if my new headphones would stay in my ears…they sound really good but easily fall out, hmmm…), then came back upstairs and showered. Took Christine’s car to the big grocery store and now have a fully stocked kitchen. Wow this makes me happy. Came back and made two soups, and am freezing half to save for later. I made a tomato basil and cream of carrot, and they turned out really well!!! I realized afterwards that I should have gotten some bacon for the carrot soup as garnish, but I can get that tomorrow. I also found a container of melted chocolate chips in the freezer, from who knows when…so I decided to heat it up and make chocolate covered strawberries–my absolute favorite treat!!! Honestly there is nothing better. Now I’m sitting on the couch in the dark listening to the sound of the dishwasher go at it (wow I also love my dishwasher). I am pretty exhausted…my back hurts! So I think I’ll put on some hand lotion and get back to reading my book (East of Eden…it’s been so long since I’ve read it!!) with my feet up and snuggled up in a blanket. That sounds nice
Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far!
This is a good idea!

Wow, this is so simple but such a good idea! I tried to wear my cute knit tights the other day when it was FREEZING out, and I regretted my dress choice almost immediately. But layering a solid pair underneath I could definitely handle!
Also, I just started a Scrabble game with Drew and I got SO lucky because the first batch of letters I got spelled out defiant!!!! Heck yeah 80-point play

The latest…:)

And isn’t this bouquet of flowers so pretty??? I normally don’t think of green as the main color of a flower bouquet, but I really like it!

Hehe

I can finally post this since I gave it to Drew for Christmas: You Smell Soap! I thought this was so cute and clever that I had to buy it (even one for myself because the scents are soooooo good! Even though I never smell hahaha).

Fix It Again Tony?

Drew tells me that FIATs are actually not very reliable cars…hmph!!! But I really want one!
We’ll have to see if the quality is any better when/if they start selling the 500 in the US. Also, I’ve decided to make Reese Witherspoon my new style inspiration. She always looks so cute and effortlessly put together, so I’m trying to emulate that with simple pieces, layers, and accessories (something I never seem to remember to put on). Isn’t she adorable?

And, ummm, the more I think about the Whirlpool prospect for Drew and I, the more I think it’s the right thing. I’m so awful about pinning my hopes on one thing prematurely, but I can’t help it! Especially not when all my blogger friends are posting lots of adorable little houses like the ones in Michigan!!!

Oooooh, please let it be true!!!

Rumor has it that Fiat is teaming up with Chrysler to sell cars in the US. Oh I want a 500 so bad!!!!

1965 model…swoon.
Hello hello

Wow, it’s been a while! I guess I took off longer than I intended
After Christmas I was enjoying my reading and watching movies routine so much I forgot to blog!!! Have still been reading all my lovely blogs and therefore have tons and tons of stuff to post… Ay, I’m a little hair-brained today…I better do this bullet-point style:
1. Drew visited and it was fantastic!!! He stayed for a whole week and I loved having him here!!! We did lots of fun stuff–went to a Bulls-Cavs game, the Art Institute, ESPNZone, a little shopping, Clarke’s (the Wake Forest bar!!!), watched the Eagles game (boooo loss to the Cardinals), ate yummy food, watched plenty of How I Met Your Mother and Battlestar Galactica (I’ll let you guess who picked which), and most importantly spent lots of time together!!! It was quite nice to come home after class to him here… Ah well, soon enough!
2. At some point I’m going to make a few new year’s resolutions. I always have a few mental ones, but I thought I’d put a few down on paper this year…we’ll see what happens.
3. Classes are going well so far. Taking four plus TA-ing so I’m busy, and trying to catch up after Drew’s visit, but it hasn’t been that bad. I’m enjoying being a student for a little while longer.
4. Job hunt continues though I have done very little applying since December. At some point I’ll need to start that up again. Drew and I both have interviews with Whirlpool in the next month or so (hopefully we can coordinate for the same time!) which has stalled my search a bit. If we both landed leadership development programs there, it’d be quite a nice way to spend the next 3 or 4 years…
5. It’s Monday and that means How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory, which makes me happy.
6. My family is getting a new dog…and it’s a puggle!!!
Drew said it was a terrible choice but I know what he really meant was I’m so jealous!!! Hopefully a puppy of my own isn’t too far off the horizon…
7. I am cooking more these days, which is nice. I got this cookbook for Christmas and have made the pork cordon bleu (which was reallllllly yummy) and I have lots of recipes saved from this blog (I tried the vodka tomato pasta but I kinda did everything wrong so it didn’t turn out so well…glad I only got the $3 vodka haha!).
8. Have been doing lots of reading. Am on East of Eden right now, but I may take a break to read this.
Well, that’s about it. I’m a happy gal at the moment, with not much at all to complain about. I will be updating more in the future, when I get around to uploading the masses from my desktop. And perhaps I’ll also upload the three pictures I took from Drew’s visit (how come I always forget to take pictures?!?!! Argh.)
Til then, stay warm friends!
Happy

Slowly getting back into the habit of posting on the blog. I apologize it’s been a bit erratic since finals/the holidays. Right now I am finishing up my box of frango chocolate (good thing I have a godiva santa to move on to next!) and drinking lots of water. For some reason I am PARCHED. Just got home a little bit ago from class…was originally signed up for the 6-9pm section of marketing research, but since I’m going to drop financial econometrics, I can switch to a different section of marketing in the afternoon and be home in the evening. I like the sound of that better.
But yeah, I ended up eating dinner in the Gleacher cafeteria, and a guy came up to me and was like, “Hey, is that a Kindle?” (I was reading on it). “Yeah-” (knowing he was about to ask if he could check it out). This has become increasingly common when I read in public places, and by now I have perfected my Kindle pitch. I know all the features that impress people, I have my anecdotes down pat about how my grandma uses the biggest font size, about how I can read in bed with a single finger poking out from under the covers. It really makes me SO HAPPY. I honestly have an irrational attachment to this piece of technology, that goes way deeper than that that I have for my iPod. If I were stranded on a desert island, assuming there was no wireless BUT an EVDO signal, I would bemoan the loss of my cell phone first, my Kindle second, my camera third, and my iPod fourth. My laptop would be way down the list since what good are computers without internet anyway?
But yeah, I’m rather in love. And I want other people to be in love too. I seriously *can’t wait* for 2.0…but it better be as good as my dreams, and they’ve set the bar pretty high.
Happy new year!

Ay ay ay, I’m back! I had a lovely Christmas break, and hope you all did too. It’s been football central around here, with lots of Monk, House, and Psych marathons thrown in
First we went to the EagleBank bowl in DC to watch Wake beat Navy!!!! Hooray
It was a good game that went til the end, but I was happy we prevailed. Then we went to Chevy’s for some mexican, yumm! I had never been there and was a bit dubious because it looked like a rather bad chain from the outside, but it was tasty!!! Grandma and Poppa came to Philly for a few days, which was really fun. Michael got a Wii Fit for Christmas which has been loads of fun. I really do want a Wii but I’m pretty sure I would never get anything done if I had one!! Ah well, I guess I’ll just have to settle for breaks for now
He also got Dark Knight which we STILL haven’t watched! Perhaps today… I got a shiny new camera since my other one died…and a really fun skirt from Anthro that I can’t wait to wear! On the 27th we boarded a plane (well actually several planes) to go to TEXAS! We were going to watch Northwestern play in the Alamo bowl against Missouri in San Antonio. I had never been to San Antonio and had a blast! The riverwalk was really pretty and I was so thrilled to be in warm weather! I can’t tell you how I excited I was to bathe in the sunshine with no coat on!!! Was a tough game…ended up losing in overtime, but still had a great time. Since being back home we’ve done a whole lot of nothing…I managed to make it into Mom and Dad’s room just in time for the 5-4-3-2-1 countdown for New Year’s, and then went to sleep
Yesterday I read books on the Kindle and watched TV (poor PSU!!! The Big 10 has such rotten luck in bowl games…) and ate lasagna. A great success I should think! Today we’re getting digital cable at the house (a present for Michael), raking leaves (ugh), and doing more reading (yay!). I finished 1984 and read Persuasion in Texas, and am now almost finished with Emma. I’m thinking about Dracula next…any other recommendations?? I’m looking for a classic that’s not mammoth-length. I am still recovering from Atlas. Well anyway, I think it’s probably time for a shower…hope everyone had a great holiday and that getting back to work isn’t that painful. Will update later on book reviews and maybe a few new year’s resolutions (I always seem to have a love-hate relationship with these things…). Til then!
